The APC Smart-UPS SMC1500I-2UC is a 1500VA/900W line-interactive rackmount UPS designed to provide reliable power protection for entry-level servers, networking equipment, retail POS systems, business VoIP equipment and edge networks.

The APC Smart-UPS SMC1500I-2UC is a 1500VA/900W line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to protect critical IT and business equipment from power interruptions, voltage fluctuations, surges and electrical noise. It is particularly suited to entry-level servers, network equipment, retail point-of-sale systems, business VoIP installations and edge-network applications.
The UPS uses line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), helping maintain the output voltage within acceptable user-selectable levels during fluctuations in utility power. This allows the UPS to regulate moderate voltage variations without unnecessarily using battery power.
The SMC1500I-2UC provides a rated capacity of 1500VA / 900W and operates at a nominal 230V AC. The unit provides pure sine-wave output, making it suitable for sensitive electronic equipment and modern IT loads.
Designed for efficient rack deployment, the UPS occupies just 2U of rack space. Its rackmount design makes it suitable for server racks, network cabinets and edge computing environments where available rack space needs to be used efficiently.
The output configuration consists of four IEC 60320 C13 outlets, with two additional IEC jumper cables supplied. The UPS uses an IEC 60320 C14 input connection.
One of the key features of the SMC1500I-2UC is its integrated SmartConnect Ethernet port. SmartConnect enables cloud-based remote power monitoring, allowing users to monitor UPS status and receive notifications remotely. Feature availability can vary according to service terms and region.
The UPS also provides USB and serial communication interfaces. Compatible PowerChute software can be used for graceful, unattended shutdown of connected servers and workstations during extended power outages.
A multifunction LCD status and control console provides local access to UPS operating information and settings. The unit also incorporates configurable audible alarms, including battery-operation and low-battery notifications.
The SMC1500I-2UC uses an internal maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery. The specified replacement battery is APCRBC132. The typical recharge time is approximately three hours, while the battery life is specified at approximately four to six years under suitable operating conditions.
Additional protection is provided by full-time multi-pole noise filtering and surge protection. The UPS has a surge energy rating of 459 joules and is designed to meet applicable power-protection standards.
